Seismic Expansion Joint Systems
Practical, robust architectural joint systems with design appeal
Inpro seismic joints protect buildings from natural shifting and movement. These seismic joint systems are engineered for earthquake proofing and designed to handle every condition, including natural shifting and movement, and even fireproofing. Seismic joints for buildings are engineered using architectural construction joints and installed with expansion joint covers to neatly blend the expansion joints into the surface of the building for a clean finish and aesthetic appeal. Fire barrier expansion joint systems are often added to ensure fireproofing of the construction joints.
Seismic joints for earthquake proofing
Seismic gaps, or expansion joint systems, are essential to absorb the natural movement of buildings caused by temperature changes, earthquakes and wind. The nationwide focus on ensuring that building specification provides adequate earthquake proofing means that seismic joints and seismic joint covers are a pivotal point in the design of any large commercial or industrial building in New Zealand.

Jointmaster® seismic expansion joints
The seismic joints we specify can handle the rapid acceleration related to a seismic event, and return to normal after the seismic event – self centering bars are very often used for this purpose.
These seismic joints absorb multi-directional building movement, so the expansion joint accommodates both vertical movement and lateral shear. Seismic joints also have much wider movement range than regular construction joints. Almost all seismic joints have a range of +/- 50% and up to 100% movement.

Jointmaster seismic joints can be installed both indoors and outdoors, in new construction or renovation, with any type of finish and for any type of building (high-rise buildings, universities, hospitals, shopping centers, warehouses, etc.).
